ਟਿੱਲਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਫ਼ਰੀਦਕੋਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਗਹਿਰੀ ਆਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਭਗਤੀ, ਸਮੁਦਾਇਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਫੀ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਹੈ। ਟਿੱਲਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਇੱਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਬਾਬਾ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਹੈ। ਬਾਬਾ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ, ਜੋ 12ਵੀਂ–13ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੂਫੀ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਕਵੀ ਸਨ, ਚਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਸੂਫੀ ਪੰਥ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Tilla Baba Farid
Tilla Baba Farid is a site of deep spiritual and historical importance in Faridkot, symbolizing devotion, community service, and the integration of Sufi and Sikh heritage. Tilla Baba Farid is a revered site commemorating the meditation retreat of Baba Farid, a prominent Sufi saint and poet of the 12th–13th century, who is considered one of the founding fathers of the Chishti Sufi order.
12th–13th Century
- Tilla Baba Farid is situated near Qila Mubarak in Faridkot, Punjab.
Baba Farid meditated here for forty days during his travels, and this event is regarded as highly sacred by followers.
Local legend tells that Raja Mokalsi, the then ruler, was so impressed by Baba Farid’s mystical powers that he renamed the city from Mokalhar to Faridkot in his honor.
- The place also preserves a sacred piece of wood which Baba Farid used to clean his mud-covered hands after being made to work as a laborer in the fort’s construction.
Gurudwara
- The site is home to Gurdwara Tilla Baba Farid, built on a small hill believed to be the location of Baba Farid’s meditation.
The Gurudwara complex includes a main shrine housing the Guru Granth Sahib and is known for its beautiful architecture.
Shabad-kirtan (devotional singing) is recited daily, and langar (free community meal) is served to all visitors and the poor.
- The Gurudwara attracts large crowds, especially on Thursdays, as pilgrims come to pay homage.

An antithesis of dogmatic religious bigotry, a Colossus, embodiment of humility & austerity; with fragrance of love and affection for humanity, who strode this earth in 12″ century was named by the great & noblest mother Mata Mariam (Kulsam Bibi) as Farid-ud- din Masood, Our “BABA FARID” JI. He was born on 5th April, 1173 A.D. at Village Khotwal, Distt. Multan now in Pakistan and visited our Mokalhar town now Faridkot on 23 September,
1215 A.D. It is by his benediction that Baba Farid Public School, Baba Farid Law College and Farid Shrines came into existence.
